1981 Andre The Giant Wrestling Poster
This beautiful boxing-style poster dates back to the pre-Wrestlemania era of professional wrestling. Front-and-center is a black and white photo of the legendary Andre the Giant, boasting his Tag Team Title match along with partner Tony Garea against the Moondogs. The event was at the Rocky Hill State Fair in East Greenwhich and is dated as Thursday, August 6, which would place as 1981. The image lists Andre at 7'4 and 424 pounds, and also bills an Intercontinental Championship match between the Magnificent Muraco and Rick Martel. Beautifully framed to 22x29", the slightly-faded poster does have a small tear and creasing that does not impact the presentation of the piece. Historical footnote - the Moondogs actually lost their titles before this event occurred, and Andre seldom wrestled for titles anyway as it was virtually impossible to imagine him "losing" and he was a major attraction even without a championship, thus he was often scheduled in Battle Royales or tag-team matches.
