1981 Dave Winfield Signed New York Yankees Game Used Hat (PSA)

1981 Dave Winfield Signed New York Yankees Game Used Hat (PSA)

Dave Winfield is the only person to have been drafted by four different sports leagues. He was a baseball star at the University of Minnesota, also played on the university's basketball team, but he hadn't played football since youth leagues. The Hall of Fame outfielder was then 6'6" and 230 lbs. He was drafted four times in 1973: MLB, by the San Diego Padres; the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings who viewed Winfield as a possible tight end; the ABA, by the Utah Stars; and the NBA, by the Atlanta Hawks. He chose baseball and played for six teams over 22 seasons. The right-fielder played for the Yankees (9 yrs), San Diego Padres (8 yrs), Minnesota Twins (2 yrs) California Angels (2 seasons), Cleveland Indians (1 yr) and Toronto Blue Jays (1 yr). Winfield hit 465 career home runs. He was a 12-time All-Star, a 7-time Gold Glove, and a 6-time Silver Slugger, and a member of the Toronto Blue Jays World Series winners. In 1982, Winfield wore this cap as a member of the Yankees, and he had a monster season as he hit .280, with 37 homers and 106 RBIs. The navy-blue hat has a white interlocking NY on the front. Underneath the brim is "31," Winfield's number, written in black marker by an unknown hand. Winfield signed the hat merely as "Winfield" written in blue ink, on the underside of the brim. On the back of the inside band is a New Era Pro Model tag which indicates that the hat is 100% wool fabric. Near the aforementioned manufacturer's tag is a small tag remnant that most likely listed the hat's size - which is unknown. The hat shows great use, including partial fraying on the NY logo, a few loose threads, and sweat and dirt stains, particularly on the underside of the brim and on the interior hatband. The great use makes this Winfield game worn cap stand out as the real deal. Comes with PSA LOA for autograph.
