1981 Paul Bear Bryant University of Alabama Worn Coaches Polo Shirt w/Signed Photograph (Athletic Director LOA)

1981 Paul Bear Bryant University of Alabama Worn Coaches Polo Shirt w/Signed Photograph (Athletic Director LOA)

"Winning isn't everything," said long-time University of Alabama football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. "But it sure beats anything that comes in second." Bryant didn't do a lot of coming in second. When he retired from college coaching in 1982, he held the record of most college coaching wins, with 323. In his 25-year stand at Alabama, he won six National Championships, and the Crimson Tide took 13 Conference Championships during his reign. Aside from winning, Bryant was known for wearing his trademark black and white houndstooth hat, and casually leaning against a goalpost while observing his team warming up. He is doing both of those things in the enclosed 8x10", framed at 9.13x11.13" color autographed photo. The picture is signed and inscribed, "12/2/82 Warmest regards Paul "Bear" Bryant", with a thin-tipped black marker. Bryant was tough, and an outstanding teacher. "No coach has ever won a game by what he knows," said Bryant about teaching. "It's what his players know that counts." His players knew a lot. The red coaching shirt has unique, just great, lettering on the right chest, "Bear Bama Staff." Included is a signed Letter of Authenticity from Steve Sloan, former Alabama Athletic Director. The "Bear" shirt and the autographed photo combine for a great tribute to Bryant.
