1981 Topps Coca Cola Carlton Fisk Unopened Pack Find (500)
In 1981, Coca-Cola produced team sets for most of the Major League teams distributed in packs of three cards with a header card with the team name. Each player card is distinguishable from their regular issue Topps card from the Coca-Cola emblem in the upper corner on the front and the player number on the reverse. However, as is often with the case with players, egos and contracts, oftentimes disagreements exist and players are sometimes traded. In this instance, the future Hall of Fame catcher Carlton Fisk was traded from the Red Sox to the paler hose, aka the White Sox in Chicago. Scrambling to get things correct was Coca-Cola who stopped production of the Coca-Cola Carlton Fisk card and destroyed the existing inventory. There were NO cards distributed in packs. There was ZERO existence of this card...until recently. Offered is the existing inventory of the 1981 Coca-Cola Carlton Fisk card, but not just the actual card, but with the Fisk card on top of the original Coca Cola packs. From an original employee of the soft drink company comes this lot of 500 Coca Cola three card packs with the ultra rare Carlton Fisk card on top! Baseball card blog sites have discussed the possibility of this card being "out there" and a few have changed hands for hundred of dollars. All derived from this original source, who decided to see what the open market could create for the entire existing inventory. Offered is often cited as the scarcest card ever produced by Topps, in conjunction with Coca-Cola, two high end brand names combining to bring you the sole stash of the rarest card Topps ever produced.
