1981/82 Topps Basketball Unopened Wax Case
When the duo of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird entered the league, they helped turn around a fledgling National Basketball Association (NBA). As it was, in 1981, the NBA wasn't nearly as popular as it is today, and not nearly as popular as the MLB or NFL, and production of their sports cards was limited in quantity. Offered is a rare 1981-82 Topps basketball wax case, with 20 boxes of 36 packs each. This case includes the first solo cards of both Magic and Bird, the rookie cards of Bill Laimbeer and Kevin McHale, plus cards of NBA stalwarts Karen Abdul-Jabbar and Julius Erving, aka Dr. J. There is some wear to the outer carton, and part of the top is lifted. Peeking underneath reveals some loose cards from a pack from one wax box. All other boxes are as issued. With the cards produced in limited quantities, GEM MINT 10 examples command a heavy premium including $1,000 for a Larry Bird example.
