1982 Gaylord Perry Seattle Mariners Game Worn Jersey (MEARS A10)
1982 Seattle Mariners jersey game worn by Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry. Early design is a pullover top with Rawlings size 46, and Set 1 1982 flag on bottom left tail. Lower case "mariners" is across the chest in individual blue-on-yellow-and-blue tackle twill, with the "m" forming a trident. Number 36 is below left, and also on back in same style numbers below the name in all blue letters arched on a plate. All original, great use shown includes some dirt stains on front, signed in blue Sharpie on front with "Game Used" inscription below front number. Slight bleeding is present to the signature but it presents in nice 7/10 form. Gaylord amassed 314 career victories - currently 17th on the all-time list - and did so in flamboyant style, with his pre-pitch machinations designed to make everyone wonder whether he was "loading up," or, using the "spitball." Of course, Perry later admitted that it was more than a show, identifying some of the creative ways in which he hid Vaseline or other substances to create daunting movement, particularly on key pitches in a given game. Graded a perfect MEARS A10.
