1982 Wade Boggs Game Worn Rookie Jersey

1982 Wade Boggs Game Worn Rookie Jersey

One of the most productive hitters the game has ever known offers up his Boston Red Sox jersey from his rookie season. Road gray with “Boston” across the chest and “26” on verso. The jersey shows extensive game use and wear, frayed in the collar and the color faded in many spots from use and washing. This was, no doubt, a jersey he wore many times, being one of the most superstitious players in the history of the game. Boggs did everything precisely and compulsively, which was his methodical approach to the game of baseball. The result? A perfect swing, 7 consecutive 200-hit seasons, batting .349 or better six times, and over 3,000 career hits. Tagging on the front left tail of the jersey is “Wilson [size] 42” with “82” embroidered in blue thread below.
