1983-86 Keith Hernandez New York Mets Signed Game Used Bat (PSA GU 8.5)

1983-86 Keith Hernandez New York Mets Signed Game Used Bat (PSA GU 8.5)

Keith Hernandez is considered by some experts to be the best fielding first baseman of all time. He won 11 straight Gold Glove Awards. Yet Hernandez was also a fine hitter, with a .296 lifetime average. He hit over .300 in seven seasons, and won the National League batting championship in 1979, when he hit .344, and was named the National League MVP. Offered is a Keith Hernandez 1983-89 signed, game used Hernandez bat. Hernandez was a 5-time all-star. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1974-83 and the New York Mets from 1983-1989, and he finished his career with the Cleveland Indians in 1990. Hernandez was a key part of two World Series champions: The 1982 St. Louis Cardinals and the 1986 New York Mets. Hernandez had an outstanding batting eye, and his walk rate of 12.5% helped him to have a lifetime OBP of .384 and an outstanding career OPS of .821. The bat is a Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger Model C271. The bat is 34" long and it weighs 31.9 ounces. It has a cracked handle, and it shows great game use, with many ball marks. On the knob of the bat is "17" written in black marker in an unknown hand. Also written on the knob, in green ink, is "32.5." The handle of the bat is darkened, mostly likely from pine tar. The end of the barrel of the bat is hollowed. Hernandez's facsimile signature is etched into the bat barrel, and next to his facsimile signature is Hernandez's genuine signature, signed in black ink from a marker. The signed bat comes with a PSA Letter of Authenticity. Hernandez still has a possibility to be elected to the Hall of Fame and renewed scrutiny of his statistics, with current analytics rating him highly, may help to lead him to the Hall of Fame, and a game used and signed Keith Hernandez bat may possibly enhance in value. Comes with PSA LOA for bat and autograph.
