1983 Tom Seaver New York Mets Game Used Hat
Tom Seaver, known as "Tom Terrific," pitched for 20 years in the Major Leagues and the Hall of Fame right-hander is most known for his time with the New York Mets, for whom he pitched from 1967 through part of 1977, and again in 1983. Seaver was the National League Rookie of the Year in 1967 when he went 16-13 with a 2.76 ERA. Seaver also pitched for the Cincinnati Reds, the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox. Seaver was a 3-time Cy Young winner, a 3-time NL MVP, and a 12-time All-Star. He helped the "Miracle Mets" to the team's first World Series Championship in '69. His lifetime record was 311-205, with a career ERA of 2.86. In 1983, during which the offered cap was game worn, Seaver went 9-14 with a 3.55 ERA. The blue cap has an orange interlocking "NY" on front. cap shows light use. It is signed with "41" on the brim and "83" inside with a marker on mesh, both inscriptions in black ink and in an unknown hand. On the back of the hatband is a "New Era" tag that reads, in part, "Dupont visor/weatherized/100% wool fabric/PRO MODEL." The hat is in excellent condition. With the New York Mets seemingly having both enhanced talent and deep pockets, the team may become a yearly contender, and interest in Seaver game worn uniform items should stay high.
