1984 Charlie Leibrandt Kanas City Royals Game Worn Jersey

1984 Charlie Leibrandt Kanas City Royals Game Worn Jersey

Despite some tough luck in the postseason, lefty pitcher Charlie Leibrandt will forever be associated with the Kansas City Royals' first World Series championship in 1985, when they rallied from 3-1 series deficits to Toronto in the ALCS and intra-state rival St. Louis in the Fall Classic. One year prior to that glory, Liebrandt became a fixture in KC's rotation, compiling an 11-7 record with a 3.63 ERA, helping guide the Royals to the A.L. West title. Offered here is a magnificent powder-blue road jersey he wore that summer. It shows great wear and features a Wilson size 42 tag with sewn-in 84 year swatch. Even though the Royals were swept by the powerhouse '84 Tigers in the ALCS, Leibrandt threw a complete-game three-hitter only to lose, 1–0, on a fielder's choice in the second inning. The following season, Leibrandt came out of the bullpen to replace the injured Bret Saberhagen in Game 7 of the ALCS vs. Toronto and earned the win that sent the Royals to the World Series. In Game 6 against the Cards, Liebrandt pitched well and his Royals rallied late to win and force Game 7, which wound up being an 11-0 rout that sparked a champagne celebration.
