1984 Craig Walls Pittsburgh Maulers USFL Uniform

1984 Pittsburgh Maulers road jersey worn by linebacker Craig Walls during the club's only season in franchise history. Accompanied by a pair of Maulers practice pants (attribution to Walls cannot be determined). The Maulers were members of the short-lived United States Football League (1983-1985) for just one season and as a result, all game-used equipment is scarce. (A Pittsburgh Maulers home jersey and pants are also offered in this auction.) Like nearly all Pittsburgh Maulers game-worn items in the hobby today, both the offered jersey and pants were obtained by our consignor directly from the team shortly after they folded. (The Maulers conducted a special auction of game-worn items and other equipment at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh.)

The white mesh jersey features the number "52" on the front, reverse, and each sleeve. The name "Walls" is lettered upon a white nameplate on the reverse, directly above the number. All numerals are silk screened in purple on orange paint. All letters are silk screened in purple paint. Located on the left front tail is a "Champion XL" label. The jersey is all original and displays moderate-to-heavy wear, including several team repairs on the front and reverse, and light, scattered staining (primarily on the front). The gray practice pants (not game-worn; the team's game-worn pants featured a bright stripe down the sides) are complete with their original gray lacing in the fly. ( A "Rawlings 38" label is located in the rear waistband. The number "56" is written in black marker in the front waistband, indicating use by a player other than Walls (linebacker Ron Freeman wore number "56" with the Maulers). The pants are original as issued and display moderate wear. Craig Walls was one of many Maulers players who also played in the NFL. Walls played a single season with the Buffalo Bills in 1987 and also played with the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League and the Pittsburgh Gladiators of the Arena Football League. He was inducted into the Arena Football Hall of Fame in 1998.
