The Sporting News Executive of the Year Award was established in 1936 by The Sporting News and is given annually to one executive, including general managers, in Major League Baseball. Often referred to as the highest honor that a baseball executive can achieve, past winners include Branch Rickey, Warren Giles, Larry MacPhail, Walter O‚Malley and others. This example was awarded to Dallas Green in 1984 while with the Chicago Cubs.
