1984 Topps Chewing Gum Rookie All-Star Presentation Trophy
Since the 1960s, Topps' regular-issue baseball-card sets have included a subset of players named to the annual Topps All-Star Rookie Team. The first Topps All-Star Rookie team appeared in the 1960 baseball-card series and featured a special card design that included an image of the trophy that was being used at the time. Offered is the All-Star Rookie team trophy that was at the presentational event in 1984. Although not awarded to any particular player, it was a part of the ceremony that featured all eleven 1984 inductees including Mike Fitzgerald, Alvin Davis, Juan Samuel, Brook Jacoby, Jackie Gutierrez, Carmelo Martinez, Dan Gladden, Kirby Puckett, Dwight Gooden and Mark Langston. The 9" diameter aluminum spun bowl is highly polished and reads, "Topps Chewing Gum National Association Rookie All-Star Team." The base is a darkly stained wood with attached plaque that is engraved, "Topps All Star Rookie Young America's Favorite 1984." Stands 10" tall overall with a few light chips noticed.
