1985 Don Mattingly Game Worn Road Jersey
Awe-inspiring jersey from Donnie Baseball's MVP season of '85, when he hit .324 with 35 homers and 145 RBIs. It was a year in which everything went right for the classy first baseman -- he even went 2-for-2 in stolen bases -- and at 24 in only his 3rd full season he was only just getting started on the 14-year career everyone seems to overlook in the Hall of Fame balloting each year. Road gray jersey has "New York" across the chest and "23" across the back in royal blue on white tackle twill. Front left tail tagging is "Wilson [size] 42". Back of neck has sewn-in gray label with "Mattingly 85 1" chain-stitched in black. Good game use with an area of evident wear and a small tear under the "York." The beauty of a Yankee jersey is the unadorned simplicity that defines the essence of the game and the nose to the grindstone attitude of the people who wear the uniform -- a prime example, of course, being Donald Arthur Mattingly.
