1985 Eric Show Jersey Worn To Give Up Pete Rose's 4192nd Hit Signed By Rose

1985 Eric Show Jersey Worn To Give Up Pete Rose's 4192nd Hit Signed By Rose

The curiosity -- and value -- of this jersey is that Eric Show didn't sign it, but Pete Rose did on September 11, 1985 when Rose broke Ty Cobb's all-time hit record. The tragedy of it is that both men were seemingly cursed by the feat. While Rose was banished from the game for gambling, Show died at at age 37 on March 16, 1994 at a drug rehabilitation center in San Diego. The ecru road pinstriped jersey has the interlocking "SD" logo on the left breast and "Show 30" on verso in brown on orange tackle twill. Good use, with the "Wilson [size] 42" tag inside the collar and "RAK" embroidered on the left sleeve in memory of Padre founder Ray A. Kroc. Jersey was obtained from Show before his death and is a bittersweet echo of a baseball milestone.
