1985 Pete Rose Original Time Magazine Cover Photograph by Neil Leifer (PSA Type I)
Original Type I photograph of Pete Rose, taken by renowned sports photographer Neil Leifer, used as the cover image for the August 19, 1985 issue of Time magazine. Rose was player/manager of the Reds at the time and one month later he etched his name into the baseball record book when he surpassed Ty Cobb as baseball's all-time hit leader. Neil Liefer is considered one of the finest sports photographers of the modern era and is best known of his iconic image of Muhammad Ali standing over a fallen Sonny Liston. A label from the National Portrait Gallery Smithsonian Institution, which credits Leifer as the photographer, appears on the reverse, along with a portion of an original newspaper photo of this image, date stamped "Tue Aug 2 1989." The photo (8x10") displays several moderate creases, mainly along the perimeter. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
