1986 Tom Seaver Boston Red Sox Game Worn Jersey
<p>Boston Red Sox home jersey worn by Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver during his final season in 1986. The white knit jersey is lettered "Boston" across the front and features the number "41" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in red on navy tackle twill. Located on the left front tail are a "Wilson" label, an adjacent "44" size tag, and a small white strip tag bearing the the year "86" chain-stitched in black. The jersey is all original and displays moderate wear, including a broken button. 1986 marked Seaver's final season in the Majors and also his only season with the Red Sox. Seaver started 16 games for Boston during the club's pennant-winning campaign and finished the year with a record of 5-7 and a 3.80 ERA. One of the greatest pitchers of the modern era, Seaver retired with 311 wins and a 2.86 lifetime ERA. Among his many achievements were a Rookie of the Year Award, three Cy Young Awards, five 20-win seasons, three ERA titles, and 61 shutouts. He was elected to the Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility in 1992.</p>
