1987 Andre Dawson Silver Slugger Award
The Silver Slugger Award is given out by Hillerich & Bradsby every year to the best offensive player at each position in both the American and National leagues. This Slugger trophy was awarded to Outfielder Andre Dawson of the Chicago Cubs for his 1987 MVP season that saw the Hall-of-Famer smash 49 home runs and drive in 137 R.B.I. The trophy reads "Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Silver Slugger sm Award Presented to Andre Dawson - OF Chicago / Member of the Sporting News National League Offensive Team 1987." The trophy then goes on to list all the other NL position winners that year, including Ozzie Smith at SS, Tony Gwynn at OF, Juan Samuel at 2B, Benito Santiago at C, Eric Davis at OF, Tim Wallach at 3B, Jack Clark at 1B and Bob Forsch at P. EX.
