1987 Anthony Carter John Madden Award
Trophy given to Vikings wide receiver Anthony Carter for being named to the first "All-Madden Team" in 1987. Though John Madden was, and is, something of a self-promoting goofball whose most thoughtful observation as a broadcaster is "boom!", the trophy surely went a long way to proving the awards' legitimacy. The metal trophy is 8 x10" and engraved with a vintage football player on one side and the names of the team on the other (others that year included Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Jerry Rice and Lawrence Taylor), mounted on a thick wood base.
