1987 Kevin Johnson Game-Used Rookie Jersey
Size 44 jersey used by Suns great Kevin Johnson as a rookie carries emotional punch because of the black patch with a white 30 on it that he wore to honor teammate Nick Vanos, who died in a plane crash before the 1987-88 season. Better things were ahead for Phoenix, which improved from 28 victories that year to 55 the next while Johnson established himself as a playmaker extraordinaire. The lettering and numerals, in orange with white trim, are smooth and bright despite numerous drives through the rinse cyle. The slight perspiration stains in the arm pits are the residue of Johnson working hard to make an impression after being traded midseason by Cleveland to Phoenix.
