1988-89 Danny Ainge Boston Celtics Game Worn Jersey
Boston Celtics home jersey worn by guard Danny Ainge during the 1988-1989 season. The white mesh jersey is lettered "Celtics" across the front and features the number "44" on the front and reverse. "Ainge" is lettered on the reverse, above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in green tackle twill. Located on the left front tail are an "88" year tag, a "MacGregor/Sand-Knit 44" label, and an additional label reading "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for Boston Celtics." The jersey is original as issued and displays light wear. The 1988-1989 season marked Ainge's final year in Boston, as he was traded to the Sacramento Kings on February 23, 1989. In his forty-five games with Boston that year, Ainge averaged 15.9 points and 4.8 assists per game. A key contributor with the Celtics beginning in 1981, Ainge helped lead the club to four NBA Finals and two World Championships in his eight seasons with the club. He later enjoyed a successful career as a Celtics front-office executive, winning a third World Championship with the Celtics in 2008.
