1988 Larry Bird HOF Induction Dinner Package with Rare Centerpiece
<p>On October 2, 1998, the Basketball Hall of Fame welcomed seven new members into its hallowed halls with the inductions of Larry Bird, Lenny Wilkens, Arnie Risen, Aleksandar Nikolic, Marques Haynes, Alex Hannum, and Jody Conradt. Offered here is a collection of items issued for the 1998 Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony and Dinner, held at the Springfield Civic Arena. The rarest of the items, by far, is the large Plexiglass centerpiece that was placed on each banquet table, the design of which features a generic image of a basketball player in gold outline. The centerpiece includes the black wooden mount, which the Plexiglass slides into, so it can be easily removed. The Plexiglass displays general handling wear, including a few scratches, and is in Excellent condition. Approximately 16" wide and 21" in height (including the base). The remaining items in the collection are as follows: <strong>1)</strong> Official full ticket to the ceremony. Graded FR 1.5 by PSA. This is the ONLY example listed in the PSA Population Report. It should be noted that the harsh grade is based solely upon paper loss on the reverse from its having been removed from an album/mount. The front is NRMT in appearance. 3x5.5". <strong>2)</strong> Ticket Master issued ticket for the ceremony. 5.75x2". FR, with a crease and paper loss on the reverse from having been removed from an album/mount. <strong>3)</strong> Program from the ceremony. 8.5x11" EX. <strong>4)</strong> 1998 Enshrinement Pin. Numbered "1373" on the reverse. 1.5" in diameter. The metal clasp on the reverse has snapped off, but is present, otherwise EX-MT. <strong>5)</strong> 1998 Enshrinement Ceremony first-day cover. 6.5x3.75". FR, with light creases and paper loss on the reverse from having been removed from an album/mount. </p>
