1989 Mark Grace Chicago Cubs Signed Game Used Bat (PSA GU 8.5)
Mark Grace Rawlings/Adirondack pro-model ("256S) bat dating from the 1989 season. Graded GU 8.5 by PSA. The bat, which measures 33.5 inches and weighs 31 ounces, displays outstanding use throughout, including numerous ball marks. A large handle crack (possibly once broken in two) has been repaired, which includes the use of a single, small nail. <span style="font-size: 13px;">The model number, year code, and batch code ("256S 09 208") are stamped in the knob. </span>Grace's uniform number ("17") is written on both the knob and barrel end in blue marker. The model number of the bat is also written on the barrel end in blue marker. Grace has signed the bat in black Sharpie (grading 9/10) on the barrel. 1989 was Grace's second full season in the Major Leagues. Coming off a banner inaugural campaign in which he finished second in the Rookie of the Year balloting, Grace proved that he was no "flash in the pan." Appearing in 142 games at first base, Grace batted .314 with 13 home runs and 79 RBI. Those numbers would be the norm for Grace during his long and successful sixteen-year career, most of which was spent in Chicago. He retired in 2003 with 173 home runs, 1,146 RBI, and a lifetime .303 average. LOA from PSA.
