1989 Sammy Sosa Game Worn Rangers Jersey
Rookie jerseys just don't get any "rookier" than this. Sammy appeared in only twenty-five games for the Rangers before being dealt to the Chicago White Sox midway through the 1989 season. Jersey features blue and white "Texas" across chest, with "Sosa 17" on verso. Use is even and strong. Tail tagging is from "Rawlings [size] 42, with "Set 1 1989" flag tag and "17" stitched in blue thread below. Name change is evident on the shoulders, as this jersey was worn by Fred Martinique following Sosa's departure from the club. But when Sosa proved to be the superstar that he is, the jersey was restored to its original state, and done so expertly that you really have to work to spot the shadows of the other name that once took up residence across the shoulders. This is a true gem. Seriously, how many of you remembered that Sosa ever even played for the Rangers? This has to be the toughest Sosa jersey out there.
