1990 Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie-Era Seattle Mariners Signed Game Used Helmet (JSA)
Presented is a signed circa 1990, rookie era full-sized Ken Griffey Jr. signed batting helmet. Ken Griffey Jr. grew up around baseball as the son of Ken Griffy Sr., a very good player for the Cincinnati Reds Big Red Machine, the New York Yankees, and the Seattle Mariners. Known as "Junior," the younger Griffey even was around baseball fields as a baby, when his dad played in the Cincinnati Reds' minor league system. Junior had a terrific career, capped by his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016. He had an amazing 630 career home runs, and he was a 13-time All-Star, a 10-time Gold Glove winner and a 7-time Silver Slugger. The helmet is a Seattle Mariners' helmet for left-handed hitters, size 7-1/8, and manufactured by American Baseball Cap (USA) Griffey Jr. signed the helmet on the front bill, in silver ink from a metallic paint pen. On the back of the helmet are: An MLB sticker, a white #24, and "ABC" as a manufacturer's sticker. Two pieces of padding in the helmet needed to be re-glued. The helmet exhibits great use, with various nicks, sweat stains, and scratches. The signed helmet comes with a JSA LOA.
