1991-92 Mike Richter Game Worn New York Rangers Jersey
Mike Richter was the most beloved New York Rangers goalie since Ed Giacomin. Game-used jersey from the 1991-92 season shows a lot of stress in the seams, especially on the bottom of the sleeves where he wore his blocker and glove. The NHL's 75th anniversary patch looks great above the tumbling Rangers script down the front. Gerry Cosby and CCM tags are intact on the collar and three-square CCM decal and NHL patch are on the shirt tail of white mesh with red and blue numerals and letters. The fat No. 35 is there on the back under his name… just the third number to be retired by the Rangers. Richter was that good and that important to the franchise. In the year he wore this jersey, he posted a 23-12-2 record, and the Rangers made the playoffs. And you know what happened soon after. In 1993-94, he set a franchise record with 42 wins in a season, and the Rangers ended the "Curse" and won the Stanley Cup (their first in 54 years). In 2001, Richter passed none other than Ed Giacomin to become the Rangers all-time leader in victories.
