1991 Derek Jeter Amateur Kalamazoo Maroons Jersey
Four years before his major league debut, Derek Jeter donned this amateur jersey for a summer league team in his hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Though not to be confused with his high school ballclub which had the similar nickname of Maroon Giants, this maroon top with elastic collar has "Maroons" and "13" stitched on the front, as well as "13" on the back. There is some slight wear and inside collar tagging that reads "Red Fox Athletic Wear Size L." Jeter played for this team all four of his high school years, including his senior summer during which he was drafted by the Yankees. A letter of provenance is included from the consignor, who held onto the item after Jeter decided not to purchase it at the end of the season.
