1991 Frank Thomas Chicago White Sox Signed Game Used Bat (PSA GU 7.5)
Frank Thomas Louisville Slugger pro-model ("C243") bat dating from the 1991 season. Graded GU 7.5 by PSA. The bat, which is not cracked, measures 33.75 inches in length and weighs 35.5 ounce. Light use is displayed in the form of ball marks (with blue-ink transfers), stitch impressions, bat-rack marks, and a light coat of pine tar on the handle. There is also evidence of a former tape application (in a crisscross manner) to the handle (tape has been removed). Thomas' uniform number ("35") is written on the handle in black marker. Thomas has signed the bat and added his uniform number in black Sharpie (grading 9/10) on the sweet spot of the barrel. 1991 marked Frank Thomas' second year in the Major Leagues and it was in that season that he firmly established himself as one of the game's top sluggers. Thomas batted .318 with 32 home runs, 109 RBI, and league-leading marks in bases on balls (138) and on-base percentage (.453). Those numbers helped earn him a third-place finish in the MVP balloting at season's end. Thomas would go on to win back-to-back MVP Awards in 1993 and 1994. A member of baseball's elite 500 Home Run Club, Thomas finished his career with 521 home runs, 1,704 RBI, and a .301 lifetime batting average. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2014, his first year of eligibility. LOA from PSA.
