1991 Washington Redskins "12th Man" Championship Ring

Offered is a 1991 Washington Redskins "12th Man award" ring given to season ticket holders. The 12th Man is meant to honor the fans, in effect a football team's extra man. In 1991, Washington went 14-2 in the regular season behind the passing of Mark Rypien, the receiving of Art Monk and Gary Clark, and the running of Ernest Byner, Ricky Ervins, and Gerald Riggs. The Redskins advanced to Super Bowl XXVI and defeated the Buffalo Bills 37-24. "12th Man Inc. is stamped inside this 11" ring. Seen from above, the ring seems designed to resemble a football stadium, with flat ends and slightly rounded sidelines. In the middle of the face of the ring is a ruby, suggesting the shape of a football. Around the face of the ring is lettering reading "Washington Redskins NFL World Champions 1991 12th Man". "12th Man Inc." is stamped inside the ring band. The left prong of the ring shows the Redskins' logo, and the right prong shows the NFC "N" logo. The ring is in excellent condition, and it is visually appealing, with the ruby and the gold-colored metal suggesting Washington's red and gold team colors. The ring provides a valuable link to Washington's glory days of Super Bowl XXVI.
