1993 Art Monk Washington Redskins Game Worn Jersey
<p>"I enjoy it when the situation gets tough, like when time is running out and we need something," said NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Art Monk about his love of clutch moments. Monk played 16 seasons in the NFL and succeeded in countless clutch situations over his career. He debuted with the Washington Redskins in 1980 and played his first 14 seasons with Washington, and he helped the team to three Super Bowl appearances in Super Bowls XVIII (a loss to the Oakland Raiders), XXII (a victory over the Denver Broncos), and XXVI (a win over the Buffalo Bills). <span style="font-size: 13px;">Mo</span><span style="font-size: 13px;">as nine catches for 179 yards in the three Super Bowls. </span>1993, the year this jersey was game worn, was Monk's last year with Washington, and that season he had 41 receptions for 398 yards and two touchdowns. <span style="font-size: 10pt;">overall, in 15 play-off games, he had 69 catches for 1,062 yards and seven touchdowns. In his career, Monk had 940 receptions for 12,721 yards and 68 touchdowns, and he caught a pass in 183 consecutive games. Monk played his final two seasons with the New York Jets in 1994 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 1995. The white mesh jersey has an NFL logo patch at the neck. The chest of the jersey shows "81" in red numerals with gold trim. Each sleeve has "81" in red with gold trim and a NFL Starter logo. The Starter logo patch on the left sleeve has some threads missing and is partially loose. On the inside front right tail is a </span><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Redskins' Starter tag with washing instructions and text that shows the jersey to be 100% nylon. Next to that tag is a manufacturer's tag that reads "Ripon Athletic...For Starter". On the outside lower left tail is a Starter Manufacturer's tag that reads "Designed and manufactured exclusively for the Washington Redskins". Two other tags next to the abovementioned Starter tag are: A "93" tag, for the year and a "44 Long" tag for size. The back has a white nameplate reading "MONK", with red letters. Below the nameplate is "81", in red with gold trim. There is v</span><span style="font-size: 10pt;">isible use on the back and wear </span><span style="font-size: 10pt;">to the bottom of number "1" on back and also a green paint transfer to the right of it. There are a </span><span style="font-size: 10pt;">few abrasions on front shoulder and right sleeve. Overall, the jersey is in very good condition, and it provides a valuable link to a wondrous receiver on two NFL Champion Washington teams.</span></p>
