1993 Ken Griffey Jr. Seattle Mariners Jersey
Ken Griffey Jr. played 22 years in the Major Leagues, and the Hall of Fame center fielder hit 630 lifetime homers, the seventh most in Major League history. Displayed is a 1993 Ken Griffey Jr. Seattle Mariners' jersey. "Junior" Griffey played 13 seasons with the Seattle Mariners, starting his Major League career with Seattle as a 19-year-old in 1989, playing 11 seasons with Seattle, following that with nine seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, a season with the Chicago White Sox, and a final two years again with Seattle. Junior was exposed to the Major Leagues at an early age as his father is Ken Griffey Sr., an outfielder and first baseman who played 19 Major League seasons, 12 with Cincinnati. Griffey Sr. finished his career playing his final two seasons with Seattle and he and Junior were the first father and son duo to ever play Major League baseball together on the same team. Junior was a 13-time All-Star, won 10 Gold Gloves, was a 7-time Silver Slugger Award winner, led the American League four times in home runs, and was the Al MVP in 1997. In the year this jersey was produced, Griffey Jr. had a monster season. He hit 45 homers, drove in 109 RBIs, and had 113 runs, with a 1.025 OPS. The offered jersey is a white home jersey. There are six silver-colored buttons down the front. "Mariners" is across the chest, in green and blue sewn-on letters with a white, sparkling trim. Above the letter "M" is a Mariner logo. The right sleeve has a Russell Athletic manufacturer's logo, "R." The left sleeve has a Seattle Mariners' patch. The bottom left outside tail has five patches: 1) Russell Athletic manufacturer's patch. 2) Diamond Collectibles/MLB size "46" patch. 3) A "1993" year patch. 4) 2" extra length patch. 5) A 100% polyester patch. The jersey back has a sewn-on name plate with "GRIFFEY" in blue and green lettering and below that "24," sewn-on in blue and green numerals. The jersey is in excellent condition. Junior Griffey's reputation as a super home run hitter who did not use Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) adds to his lasting popularity and the value of his memorabilia.
