1993 Nirvana Roseland Ballroom New York City Original Poster
Displayed is an original poster for Nirvana's appearance on July 23, 1993, at Roseland in New York City as part of the New Music Seminar. Roseland was a multi-purpose venue that could accommodate 3,200 standing patrons as well as another 300 in the balcony. The appearance let fans experience<em> Nirvana</em> as they performed songs from their up-coming third studio album <em>In Utero,</em> a release that would top the album charts in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom<em>.</em> Two singles from the album would reach Number 1 on Billboard's Alternative Music chart: "Heart-Shaped Box" and "All Apologies". Music critic Jon Pareles wrote in the <em>New York Times</em>: "The band ... reminds both old fans and skeptics of why it blasted out of the club circuit to begin with. ...The music weaves and undulates, conveying not the muscular certainty of most hard rock, but a struggle to break free of despair." At the Roseland appearance, Nirvana was joined onstage by two other musicians at times during the concert. The poster includes band members: Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl. <span style="font-size: 13px;">Nirvana di</span><span style="font-size: 13px;">sbanded after the suicide of Kurt Cobain in 1994. The band is in the Rock Hall of Fame. The poster measures 14" x 22", and it represents the basic, no frills poster style of New York City at the time. The poster is in very good condition, and it harkens to the days when <em>Nirvana</em> was at its peak.</span>
