1994 Kirby Puckett Signed Game Worn 2000th Hit Jersey
Kirby Puckett was just plain fun to watch on the ball field. It was because he was immensely talented and you could tell that he understood how lucky he was to be able to earn a very good living by playing a game he so loved. He played 12 great seasons, all with the Minnesota Twins. Unfortunately, his career ended prematurely after the 1995 season due to irreversible retina damage in his right eye caused by glaucoma. He ended up with over 2,300 hits but there is no doubt that he was headed towards 3,000 base knocks and beyond. When he retired he had attained the highest career batting average (.318) for a right-handed batter since Joe DiMaggio. This is an extra special jersey from an extra special player. Kirby Puckett wore this very jersey for the at bat when he got hit number 2,000! The jersey is in absolutely magnificent condition. “Twins 34” on the front. Underneath in black marker is “Best Wishes, Kirby Puckett #34...4/8/94...2000 Hits.” Below that are two patches: “Russell Athletic” and “Diamond Collection 50.” In the collar is a tag “34 50-94-2.” Left sleeve has Twins insignia. Right sleeve has handsome 125th Anniversary patch. Reverse has his number “34” and another Puckett signature below it, this time in blue marker. Condition is great and use is fine. Accompanying this magical jersey are two photos from that historic night. Just a quick glance at the pics and it is obvious that the jersey perfectly matches the jersey in the photo from this monumental game. One of the photos (10 x 8”) is signed “2000th Hit Kirby Puckett” in blue marker. Also, a pair of his Twins stirrups and a framed in Twins game ticket from the big night, April 8, 1994. How often do you get a chance to buy an item like this? LOA from the Twins.
