1995 Carlos Baerga Cleveland Indians Signed & Inscribed Game Used World Series Cleats

1995 Carlos Baerga Cleveland Indians Signed & Inscribed Game Used World Series Cleats

Presented is a pair of 1995 Carlos Baerga Cleveland Indians game worn World Series cleats. Baerga played 14 Major League seasons, mostly with the Cleveland Indians (8 years) and the New York Mets (3 seasons). Baerga played second base in 1995, and he hit .314 for the year, with 15 homers and 90 RBIs. In his career, Baerga hit .291, with 134 RBIs. The red cleats are Reebok, and they were used in the 1995 World Series when Baerga's Indians lost, 4 games to 2, to the Atlanta Braves. In the back of the tongue of the shoe is a manufacturer's tag that reads "Made in China" and the tag shows the size as "10." On the front of the black tongue of each shoe is embroidered "World Series" in gold thread. On the instep section of each cleat, Baerga has signed his name in black ink from a marker. Below Baerga's signature, an unknown hand has used black ink from a marker to print "1995 Game Use World Series." The inner padding around the high ankle area of each shoe shows great wear, with the outer gray coloring flaking off to reveal a white coloring underneath. It appears that the original laces have been replaced. On each shoe, on the molded underside portion of the shoe that contains the actual cleats (spikes), parts of the bottom portion of each shoe have separated from the underside and are missing. It appears that attempts to repair the underside portion of each shoe have been undertaken where the protective foam, in the area between the main part of the sole and the molded plastic that contains the cleats, is missing and there are remnants of glue on the bottom portion of each shoe and cracks in the portion of the leather-like material. A portion of the underside of the left shoe, measuring approx. 1.5x2" is missing. A portion of the underside of the bottom of the right shoe, measuring approx. 3x1", is missing. There are cracks in the molded plastic underneath portion of each shoe. It is possible that the bottom portion of each shoe, the part that contains the actual spikes, has come completely off and been glued back. Cracks and glue residue are in numerous places on the shoes. On each shoe, the rear portion of the material near the heel has become partially separated from the main part of the shoe. The aforementioned characteristics are common as spikes age, and there are some small sweat stains and dirt marks on each shoe.
