1996 New York Yankees World Series Championship Ring Presented to Hector Lopez
Ushering in their most recent era of dominance, the 1996 New York Yankees reinvigorated the Bronx by winning the AL East for the first time in 15 years and capturing their first World Series in nearly 20 years. This exceptional World Series ring from their victory that year was presented to Hector Lopez, who was a coach and formerly a member of the 1961 World Champion Yanks, and sources directly from him. The ring features 23 diamonds in its face inlaid in the Yankees symbol on a navy blue field. Surrounding the centerpiece are the words "WORLD CHAMPIONS 1996," while "Lopez" can be found on the right shank and "LGB 10K" stamped inside. The ring is size 10.5 and weighs 40.3g. The '96 season featured the ascendancy of three players that would become the cornerstone of the new Yankee dynasty: rookie shortstop Derek Jeter, sophomore pitcher Andy Pettitte, and second-year reliever Mariano Rivera. Interestingly, at the time Rivera was the setup man, but would move to closer the following year, where he would find a permanent home. This fabulous ring represents a turning point in the franchise, when the team oscillated back to the extraordinary success for which they are most known.
