1996 Olympic Torch Run Used Torch Signed by Muhammad Ali
After being out of the limelight for more than a decade, fighting the effects of Parkinson's Syndrome, Muhammad Ali was asked to light the Olympic flame during the Opening Ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Ali moved slowly and his hands shook; yet his performance brought tears to many who watched the Olympic lighting. We offer here an actual 1996 Olympic Torch which was actually used somewhere along the route to the Olympics, but not the torch used by Ali. This beautiful metallic torch with wooden handles has been signed in bold, black Sharpie by Ali. Has some scorching where it lit. Minor crack on the plastic connector of the two piece torch. 32" long. A rare piece, actually used, from the 1996 Olympics signed by the man known as "The Greatest."
