1996 Riddick Bowe Fight Worn Trunks from Andrew Golota I Match (Photomatched)
The July 11, 1996, Heavyweight showdown between Riddick Bowe and little-known Andrew Golota offered more than anyone bargained for. A sharp Golota surprised the out-of-shape Bowe and was leading by all accounts, but repeated low blows forced a stop the the contest, awarding Bowe the victory and touching off an in-ring riot at Madison Square Garden. These trunks were obtained directly from Bowe and are photo-matched to multiple images from the fight, including Getty #81428594. White satin trunks with red trim, there's Bertinelli tagging inside the waist band with 3X size and Dry Clean Only flag tags. "BOWE" is embroidered in red letters on the waistband with "BIG DADDY" and "JUDY" below. It's also signed in 9/10 blue Sharpie by Bowe and he has added "Fight Used" below his signature. Just five months later, history would repeat itself in the rematch, as Golota was again ahead before being disqualified due to low blows.
