1997-98 Florida Gators Citrus Bowl Player Jersey
Presented is 1998 Citrus Bowl University of Florida Thomas Moody jersey. Moody was a redshirt freshman defensive tackle on the Florida Gators in the 1997 season. He did not play in any regular season games, nor did he play in the post-season Citrus Bowl. During that '97 season, he practiced with the Gators' scout team. Moody missed the entire 1998 season with a shoulder injury. In 1999, the 6'4", 286 lbs. Moody played in six games on the defensive line, starting two times. In 2000, Moody was moved to left guard and started all 12 regular season games and the Nokia Sugar Bowl. In 2002, Moody started at right guard in six regular season games and started in the Orange Bowl. Apparently, the offered jersey was issued to Moody before the Citrus Bowl following the 1997 season even though he was red shirting that season and was not on the active roster for the 1998 Citrus Bowl. The Citrus Bowl game was played on Jan. 1, 1998 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. In the game, Florida, coached by Steve Spurrier, defeated Penn State, coached by Joe Paterno, 21-6. Over the years, the Florida Gators' #96 jersey was worn by such standout defensive linemen such as Jeff Roth, William Green, and Ernie Badeaux. The beautiful, mostly mesh blue jersey has orange and white trim. In the neck is a "Starter" manufacturer's tag that shows the jersey was "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Florida Gators." Next to the manufacturer's tag is a size "50" tag, and a year tag showing the year as "97." On the neckline is a "SEC" (Southeastern Conference) tag. On the chest is number "96" stenciled in white numerals with white and orange trim. Each sleeve exhibits the numerals "96" in stenciled white, with blue and orange trim. The left sleeve also has a "Starter" logo tag. On the right chest is a multicolored "Florida Citrus Bowl Comp USA" patch. On the left chest is a Florida Gators patch. The back has a sewn on blue nameplate, with "MOODY" stenciled in white letters. The back has "96" in stenciled white numerals with orange and white trim. The right inside tail has a tag reading, "MADE IN U.S.A. by RIPON ATHLETIC/Berlin, WI for STARTER." Also, next to the aforementioned tag is a tag that gives washing instructions. The jersey is in excellent condition, and it makes a great remembrance for a traditional bowl game.
