1997 Roger Clemens Toronto Blue Jays Signed Game Issued Jersey w/Jackie Robinson Patch
Displayed is a game issued Toronto Blue Jays Roger Clemens jersey from 1997, one of his greatest seasons. Clemens was extraordinary that season, winning the Triple Crown of pitching with a record of 21-7, a 2.05 ERA, and 292 strikeouts. Those results earned Clemens the Cy Young Award. Clemens also won both the pitching Triple Crown and the AL Cy Young Award in 1998 for Toronto. Clemens played 21 Major League seasons and has a lifetime 354-184 record, with a lifetime ERA of 3.12. For his career, Clemens was a 7-time Cy Young winner and took 7-ERA titles. The home white jersey is tagged "21 97 1" in the neck. The jersey also has a tag that shows "100% polyester" and gives washing instructions. It has Wilson size "52" and "2-inch X-Length" tagging. The jersey has "BLUE JAYS" and number "21" in blue letters on the front. On the back is "CLEMENS" in blue letters and under the name is number "21" in blue numerals. On the right sleeve is a patch reading "Jackie Robinson 1947/1997 50 [Anniversary] Breaking Barriers." The left sleeve shows the Toronto Blue Jay logo. It is signed on front and inscribed "Rocket CY 5." The jersey exhibits loose threads. There is minor red bleeding on the front. It isn't often that a signed game issued jersey from a pitcher who has won over 350 games becomes available from a year in which the pitcher has won a pitching Triple Crown and a Cy Young Award.
