1998 Hank Aaron RBI Leader Award Presented to Juan Gonzalez
One of a kind 1998 MLB Hank Aaron Award presented to AL RBI champion Juan Gonzalez. The award is pyramid shaped and measures to 15" at its apex while the base measures 8.5" at its widest. The award has a colored lucite top with a wooden base. Gonzalez was awarded the honor due to his leading the American League in RBIs in 1998 with a total of 157, besting Albert Belle who amassed 152 RBI that season. Interestingly, Gonzalez reached 101 RBI at the All-Star break; a feat not reached since 63 seasons before by Hank Greenberg. Gonzalez would go on to easily win the American League MVP when the season concluded. The award comes directly from Juan Gonzalez and is inscribed in black Sharpie "my RBI original trophy Juan Gonzalez" on the bottom of the award along with a Jostens sticker. The piece is in Near Mint condition.
