1998 Mark McGwire Game Used All Star Hat
Crisp 1998 St. Louis Cardinals hat game worn by slugger Mark McGwire. Red cap has white-on-black "St.L" logo on the crown, with 1998 All-Star logo embroidered on the left side. Under the bill is a five-point star in black marker, and inside the crown, also in black, is his son's name MATT. MLB Authentic, New Era, and size 7 1/2 tags are sewn into the brim, which shows use with some discoloration from sweat. Because it appears lightly used, the hat displays in EX-NM condition with sharp colors and no evident blemishes. The 1998 season was memorable for the home run chase between McGwire and Sammy Sosa, with ended with Sosa's 66 home runs coming up just short of McGwire's then-new single-season record of 70, since broken only by Barry Bonds.
