1998 Roger Clemens Game Worn Jersey
Is there a better, more profound Clemens-signed jersey around? Consider the awesome importance of the Rocket's Man's Blue Jays shirt from '98, when he won his precedent-shattering 5th Cy Young Award and led the AL in wins (20), ERA (2.65) and strikeouts (271) -- becoming only the 4th hurler ever to win back-to-back "Triple Crowns." (The others? Alexander, Grove and Koufax.) But wait, there's more. Lots more. Check out the signature on the front of the shirt. We bet you've never seen this much or this sort of content in a Clemens marker before. The notoriously introvered future HOFer took a silver sharpie and had a ball, writing on the right front "Rocket" above a gorgeous NRMT signature, then "Triple Crown 1997 & 1998." In case anyone missed the point, he added on the left front, Cy Young 97, 98." For Clemens, this is more than he usually gives out in an entire postgame interview. Shirt also marks his last year in Toronto, where he proved he wasn't washed up after being dissed by the cheapsakes in Boston. The next season he'd be a Yankee. The Navy blue road jersey has "Toronto" and "21" on front and "Clemens" and "21" on back in blue on red on white tackle twill. Blue Jay patch on right sleeve. Light blue-dark blue-red elastic band at end of sleeves. "Russell Athletic" and size "50" tags on lower left front tail. In collar is sewn-in tag with "21-50-98-[Set] 1". 100% polyester and extra tags have been removed but areas where they were sewn in are visible. Nice use. Again, a Clemens shirt like no other.
