1999 Jason Kendall Pittsburgh Pirates Game Worn Jersey
Pittsburgh Pirates road jersey worn by catcher Jason Kendall in 1999. The gray knit jersey, with black pinstripes, is lettered "Pittsburgh" across the front and features the number "18" on the left breast and reverse. "Kendall" is lettered upon a gray name plate on the reverse above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in black on gold tackle twill. A Pirates team patch appears on the left sleeve. Located on the interior left front tail are a "Rawlings" label, a "48" size tag, a tag reading "Sleeves 1 Inch Shorter Length," and a flag tag reading "Set 1 1999." The jersey is all original and displays light use. The light use is not surprising given that Kendall suffered a dislocated ankle on July 4th that sidelined him for the remainder of the year. Up to that point, Kendall was enjoying another stellar year at the plate, batting .332 with 8 home runs and 41 RBI. One of the top hitting catchers of his era, Kendall retired in 2010 with 75 home runs, 744 RBI, and a .288 lifetime average.
