19th Century Austrian Baseball Charger
Magnificent 12" crimped charger plate is blessed with stunning hand-painted scene of a fielder making a thrilling play. Fascinating equip-ment study with two extremely early gloves (one on each hand) and early pillbox cap. Aesthetically, the artist has deftly created a "whoosh" in the field of green to portray action and power in the flight of the baseball. From a well-known series, the large charger is the largest and most desired piece of all. Marked MZ Austria on the verso, these were exported from Europe for U.S. sale. Mint.
