19th Century Hand Sewn United States Flag

19th Century Hand Sewn United States Flag

Late nineteenth-century U.S. flag is an embroidered masterpiece (VG), mixing fluttering Old Glories, a patriotic crest, and a fierce bald eagle flying above it all. "E. Pluribus Unum." is sewn across the ribbon below. The delicate 27 by 24-inch banner (EX) with 45 stars was issued sometime after Utah became the 45th state in 1896. Based on the look, it is from right around that period. The artistry invested in this American beauty is unmitigated. Note the pearl eye in the eagle and the ribbon-like stitching through every star and stripe. In any century, it's a Yankee Doodle Dandy.
