Very nice 1st-edition of "Gangs of New York" by Herbert Asbury, the famous 1928 chronicle of crime in the Big Apple that stoked the recent movie of the same name and the popularization of Battle Annie, Dopey Bennie and Dead Rabbits. Believed to be a "true" 1st-edition -- an edition came out later that year with cheaper printed paper-covered boards. In variant, unrecorded publisher's binding with old fashioned lamppost stamped in black on mocha cloth on the spine. Light shelf wear on spine and tips, one pale patch of discoloration, a few specks on the cover, lightly toned pages. All in all, a tough old survivor.
