2002-2003 Jorge Posada New York Yankees Game Used Bat (Steiner)

Jorge Posada Louisville Slugger pro-model ("M356") bat dating from the 2002 to 2003 manufacturing period. The bat, which measures 34.5 inches in length and weighs 31.25 ounces, displays outstanding use, including ball marks, pine tar on the upper handle, and the outline of a former tape application (in a crisscross manner) on the lower handle (a fragment of the original white tape remains). There is also a multiple crack in the handle that is responsible for the bat's retirement. Posada was at the top of his game during the two-year span 2002-2003. In 2002 he batted .268 with 20 home runs and 99 RBI. The following season he improved on those numbers, hitting .281 with 30 home runs and 101 RBI to help lead the Yankees to their sixth pennant in eight years. A member of the Yankees’ famous “Core Four,” Posada retired in 2011 with 275 home runs 1,065 RBI, and a .273 lifetime average. A hologram label from Steiner Sports is affixed to the barrel, but no corresponding COA accompanies it.
