2002 Nomar Garciaparra Boston Red Sox Game Worn Jersey with Ted Williams Memorial Armband
<p>Boston Red Sox road jersey worn by star shortstop Nomar Garciaparra in 2002. The gray knit jersey is lettered "Boston" across the front and features the number "5"son the reverse. "Garciaparra" is lettered upon a gray name plate on the reverse above the number. All letters and numbers are applied in red on navy tackle twill. Located on the left front tail are a "Russell Athletic label," a "2000" year tag, a "46" size tag, and a tag reading 3'" Extra Length. Although this jersey was produced in 2000, it was worn by Garciaparra in 2002 as evidenced by the black memorial armband and black number "9" on the right sleeve. The armband and number were added to each Red Sox uniform in 2002 after the death of Ted Williams on July 5, 2002. The jersey is all original and displays light wear. Garciaparra batted .310 with 24 home runs and 120 RBI in 2002. A former Rookie of the Year and six-time All Star, Garciaparra was one of the top hitting shortstops of his era. In 14 seasons he batted over .300 eight times and won two batting titles. He retired in 2009 with 229 home runs, 936 RBI, and a .313 lifetime average. </p>
