2004 Albert Pujols First Rawlings Game Used Glove Photo Matched

2004 Albert Pujols First Rawlings Game Used Glove Photo Matched

Few major league stars have blasted onto the scene quite the way Albert Pujols did in 2001. The Dominican-born slugger was drafted by the Cardinals in 1999 and after just one year of minor league ball, he became an instant superstar in winning the N.L. Rookie of the Year award. This was the first glove ever made specifically for Pujols: a -Rawlings "Pro Preferred" PROAP5K first base mitt that he used during 2004 Spring Training. It bears the names of his children embroidered on the thumb: "Isabella Pujols" and "A.J. Pujols." There's also a stamp on the exterior of the pinky, which reads: "Individually Handcrafted I.D. No. 01," signifying this was the very first Rawlings glove made for the man who would become a 10-time All-Star and three-time MVP. The glove is signed in black (9/10) and it has been photo-matched.
