2004 David Ortiz Boston Red Sox Game Used Bat PSA GU 7.5 - "Reverse the Curse" Championship Season

David Ortiz Louisville Slugger pro-model ("O76") bat dating from the Red Sox's historic 2004 World Championship season. Graded GU 7.5 by PSA. The black-maple bat, which measures 34.5 inches in length and weighs 31.4 ounces, displays excessive use, including numerous ball marks (with blue-ink transfers), stitch impressions, pine tar, and a large "H" crack (approximately 16 inches long) that runs through the center brand. Ortiz's uniform number ("34") is written on the knob in silver paint pen. As noted in the accompanying PSA LOA, the amount of use on this bat is normally indicative of one used for batting practice, but "it is also well known that players will use a bat in batting practice as well as during an official Major League Game. Therefore, we are not dismissing the possible game use by David Ortiz.' "Big Papi" enjoyed a banner season in 2004, batting .301 with 41 home runs and 139 RBI. He was even better in the post season, where his late-inning heroics helped the Red Sox rally from a 3-0 deficit in the American League Championship to beat the Yankees in seven games. Ortiz stayed hot in the World Series, batting .308 with 1 home run and 4 RBI in Boston's four-game sweep of the Cardinals, which ended the club's historic eighty-six year World Championship drought.
